Founded in 2010, Maya Mountain Cacao (MMC) is a social company that is among the pioneers in the creation of a fermentation center to export high-quality cocoa to craft chocolate producers. The cocoa beans are purchased fresh from 350 farmers in the Toledo and South Stann Creek areas. Many of these farmers are Q'eqchi' and Mopan Maya people who have been growing cocoa for generations. The collected cocoa beans are then fermented and dried in a controlled and traceable manner by 100% local teams.
